Abstract

The article focuses on a Roman noblewoman named Calpurnia and her devotion to the Egyptian goddess Isis even during Emperor Tiberius' ban on foreign cults. Topics including the historical context of the Roman Empire's expansion and culture, Calpurnia's defiance through the dedication of four altars to Egyptian gods, the evolution and spread of the worship of Isis beyond Egypt, and the significance of her actions as an act oaf resistance against imperial edicts.
