Abstract

An essay is presented which explores the possible reform of American evangelicalism with regard to the #ChurchToo movement which aims to address clergy sexual abuse. Topics discussed include the connection between #ChurchToo and the #MeToo campaign against sexual abuse, the sexual abuse experienced by writer Emily Joy Allison as a teenager which led to the launch of the said movement, and the signs of spiritual abuse such as manipulation, enforced accountability, and coercion to conform.
