Abstract

This article focuses on the development and implementation of a culturally specific nursing simulation about Amish preferences for non-conventional burn care, created using the artificial intelligence (AI) tool ChatGPT. The simulation, designed for undergraduate nursing students, incorporated Amish cultural practices such as the use of Burns & Wounds (B&W) ointment and burdock leaves, and adhered to the International Nursing Association for Clinical Simulation and Learning (INACSL) Standards of Best Practice. While AI expedited the creation of learning objectives, scenarios, scripts, and debriefing tools, all content required expert review and input from Amish cultural advisors to ensure accuracy and cultural sensitivity. The simulation promoted culturally sensitive communication and enhanced students' understanding of Amish health beliefs, with implications for broader use of AI in developing culturally competent nursing education.
