Abstract

The article reflects on the author's first Catholic Communion in 1973, exploring both personal memories and the theological debates surrounding the consumption of the Eucharist. Topics include childhood memories and attire during the first Communion; the historical debate between symbolic and literal understandings of the Eucharist; and medieval discussions on digestion, animals, and the sacred nature of consumed Communion.
