Abstract

The article examines the historical and ideological conflict between neoliberal economics and Christianity, focusing on how thinkers such as Ludwig von Mises and Friedrich Hayek rejected Christian ideas of compassion and the common good as incompatible with capitalism. It traces these arguments from early twentieth-century European and American intellectual debates to contemporary politics, including Argentinian President Javier Milei's hostility toward Pope Francis.
