Abstract

Here Meeks summarizes the hermeneutical interpretation of the sacraments he has presented in the previous five chapters, noting rightly that he has provided a nuanced framework in which the sacraments can be better appreciated by evangelical Protestants. By grounding these two key Protestant doctrines in a sacramental hermeneutic, Meeks argues, low church Protestants can achieve a more robust sense of unity with both Christ and each other. For the better part of the last two decades there has been a growing chorus of Protestant voices arguing for a renewed sense of sacramentality within Protestant Christianity.
