Abstract
The article focuses on the interpretation of the story of Jonah in the Middle English poem "Patience," particularly the miraculous dissemination of Jonah's prophecy to the Ninevites. The author explores how both Jewish and Christian scholars have addressed the issue of how Jonah's message was immediately accepted by the people of Nineveh, and how this explanation has ecumenical implications in understanding the narrative.
