Abstract
This article analyzes Pope Francis's 2020 post-synodal apostolic exhortation *Querida Amazonia* (Beloved Amazon), focusing on its rhetorical construction of an ethic of eco-eudaimonia (EEE)—a concept integrating ecological flourishing with human well-being. Drawing on Emmanuel Levinas's philosophy of ethical responsibility to the Other and John Muckelbauer's theory of rhetorical asignification, the analysis highlights how Francis critiques anthropocentric views of "living well" that neglect reciprocal interdependence with the biophysical environment. Through poetic and anthropomorphic expressions, including indigenous Amazonian voices, Francis advances integral ecology as a framework for ecological conversion that unites care for the environment with social justice. The article situates *Querida Amazonia* within Francis's broader environmental rhetoric, emphasizing its call to renew "the face of the earth" by fostering solidarity between humans and the more-than-human world, thereby challenging exploitative paradigms and promoting a relational ethic grounded in Catholic social teaching.
