Abstract
In Mari Lowe's novel "Beinoni," a Jewish boy named Ezra Safran grapples with his role as the Nivchar, tasked with battling a mysterious beast to bring about peace or unleash chaos. As his bar mitzvah approaches, Ezra doubts his ability to fulfill his destiny. With the help of friends, he uncovers a larger conspiracy that challenges his beliefs and loyalty. Despite dense prose, the book explores themes of duty, peace, and relationships in a nuanced fantasy adventure suitable for readers aged 8-12. [Extracted from the article]
