Abstract
This article focuses on how leaders can build and restore trust, emphasizing that effective leadership is about empowering others rather than self-promotion. It identifies three core drivers of trust—authenticity, logic, and empathy—and explains that trust breakdowns typically stem from weaknesses in one of these areas, referred to as a "trust wobble." Using Uber’s leadership challenges and transformation as a case study, the article illustrates how addressing these trust drivers through cultural change, management education, and inclusive practices can rebuild organizational trust. It also highlights the importance of fostering authenticity to leverage diversity effectively and underscores that self-trust is foundational to gaining others’ trust.
