Abstract

This article reviews the research conducted by the author on how people are trained and developed to create and lead organisations with a business as mission (BAM) purpose. Data was gathered through training and academic program websites and interviewing deans and other program leaders of Christian universities and colleges, in addition to connecting with leaders of training organisations and Christian business networks to gain information on what training and development activities they provide. Questions were asked that related to what specific training and development (T&D) these organisations offer and what they see as the gaps in the development of effective businesspeople who want to create and manage BAM organisations. This article refers to the specific research that was focused on how Christian business schools are developing future BAM leaders and what the challenges are for these organisations being successful in this specific leadership development work. The conclusions of the research may assist Christian business schools in understanding how they might enhance their programs to better prepare graduates for BAM work. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
