Abstract
The article reviews a scholarly book that explores the theme of God as Creator in the Old Testament, emphasizing that the biblical insight on creation extends beyond Genesis to include significant material in Isaiah, Psalms, Proverbs, and other books such as Amos, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, Zechariah, and Daniel. The author also situates the Old Testament creation narratives within a broader ancient Near Eastern context by discussing texts like Gilgamesh and Enuma Elish, and extends the study to later writings including Enoch, Tobit, Judith, Wisdom, and the New Testament. A notable focus is on how creation theology relates to divine and human kingship, natural law, and the ongoing divine activity of "rearranging the world." The book offers a wide-ranging theological and scholarly engagement with Old Testament texts, providing readers with a comprehensive introduction to contemporary Old Testament studies on creation.
