Abstract

The article focuses on the ideas of Stanley Jaki, a Hungarian born Catholic priest, physicist, and historian of science, who argued that modern science arose uniquely from Christian theology. It examines both the originality and the limits of his apologetic account, questioning whether his emphasis on medieval Christian thought and mechanics overstates Christianity's exclusive role in the development of modern science.
