Abstract

The article discusses a new study on mental health diseases and conditions, emphasizing the importance of community engagement in promoting wellbeing, as highlighted by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). The research identifies spiritual/faith-based organizations (SFBOs) as significant social infrastructures that can enhance social cohesion and individual wellbeing, particularly in times of stress. It introduces the Community Outreach & Professional Engagement (COPE) framework, which aims to foster collaborations between mental health service organizations (MHSOs) and SFBOs to improve care for individuals with severe mental illness or substance abuse issues. The study also addresses both the positive and negative impacts of religion and spirituality on mental health. [Extracted from the article]
