Abstract
This article examines how White extremist groups in the United States construct ideologies about the family at the intersection of race and gender, based on a content analysis of six groups' websites, including one women-led organization, Women for Aryan Unity (WAU). The study identifies three main ideological patterns: forming an extended White family to preserve racial purity, enforcing heteronormative and traditional gender roles that subordinate women, and policing women's reproductive rights and sexuality to sustain White supremacy. WAU diverges somewhat by embracing a redefined feminism and diverse women's roles, yet still upholds core White supremacist and anti-miscegenation beliefs. The findings highlight how these groups reproduce gendered inequalities within their racialized agendas and suggest an increasing overlap between White extremist and conservative political rhetoric centered on traditional family values.
