Abstract

The article explores Italy's long-standing ambition to build a bridge over the Strait of Messina, recently approved by the government and slated for construction from 2025 to 2032. Topics include the plan for the world's longest single-span suspension bridge; the bridge's potential role in NATO and Mediterranean networks; and the Strait's rich mythology, literature, and local significance beyond mere infrastructure.
