Abstract
This article reviews John H. Gerstner's book *Wrongly Dividing the Word of Truth: A Critique of Dispensationalism*, focusing on Gerstner's Reformed (Classical Calvinist) critique of Dispensationalism and Grace theology. Gerstner asserts that Calvinism is synonymous with Christianity and judges Dispensationalism by the standards of Dortian Calvinism, which the reviewer terms "Calvinism ex cathedra." The review highlights Gerstner's rejection of unlimited atonement and his view that faith necessarily includes works as part of salvation, contrasting this with the reviewer's argument that such a definition departs from both Calvin's original teachings and Pauline doctrine. The article also notes Gerstner's charge that Dispensationalism is antinomian and his critique of its perceived separation of justification and sanctification. While critical of Gerstner's theological presuppositions and interpretations, the review acknowledges that his work effectively clarifies the significant and irreconcilable divide between Reformed and Dispensational theologies, making the book essential reading for those studying the Lordship Salvation debate.
