Abstract
The article focuses on James Schwartz's new poetry collection, "Amish Alchemy," which explores his Amish heritage through autobiographical haikus and love sonnets. The collection addresses themes of homophobic religious intolerance, loss, and personal transformation, illustrated with images from the Public Domain Image Archive. Schwartz, who grew up in a restrictive religious environment, aims to raise awareness for The Misfit Amish organization, which seeks to bridge cultural gaps between Amish and non-Amish communities. "Amish Alchemy" is set to be released on February 18th through Alien Buddha Press. [Extracted from the article]
