Abstract

This article focuses on defining and enhancing the role of equippers—gifted church leaders responsible for preparing disciplers within local Baptist congregations in Victoria, Australia. It identifies three biblically grounded equipping strategies derived from Paul's instructions to Timothy: modeling Christlike behavior, teaching sound doctrine, and partnering in authentic relationships. Pedagogically, equippers enact multifaceted roles as teachers, role models, facilitators, and partners to foster holistic transformation—cognitive, affective, and behavioral—in disciplers through interactive learning, experiential practice, and supportive community engagement. The study highlights current deficiencies in equipping practices linked to pastoral role ambiguity and limited educational approaches, advocating for an integrated theological and pedagogical framework that addresses the whole person in disciple-making.
