Abstract

The article reviews several recent classical music recordings, focusing on vocal and orchestral performances of baroque and operatic works. Highlights include a live recording of a baroque oratorio featuring tenor David Portillo and countertenor Aryeh Nussbaum Cohen, noted for its vocal qualities despite some audio balance issues. Another review covers Kurt Weill’s *The Seven Deadly Sins* led by Sir Simon Rattle and mezzo-soprano Magdalena Kožená, praised for its expressive interpretation. The oratorio *Serpentes ignei in deserto* by Hasse is commended for its demanding countertenor roles and dynamic conducting by Thibault Noally. Additionally, soprano Vannina Santoni’s album *Par Amour* is recognized for its thoughtful exploration of love through diverse repertoire, supported by the Orchestre National de Lille. A critical assessment is given to Marina Rebeka’s recording of Bellini’s *Norma*, noting vocal and interpretive shortcomings despite strong conducting.
