Abstract
This article focuses on a 2025 production of Sophocles' *Oedipus* at The Old Vic, directed by artistic director Matthew Warchuhe and adapted by associate artist Ella Hickson. The production features Hollywood actor Rami Malek in his British stage debut as Oedipus, alongside Indira Varma as Jocasta, and incorporates choreography and music by Hofesh Shechter OBE with dancers from his company. The staging is minimalist, blending theatre and dance equally, with a shortened script and stylized dance sequences that enhance the narrative’s tension. The performance runs approximately 100 minutes without an interval and employs dramatic lighting effects, including full auditorium blackouts, to underscore the play’s atmosphere.
