Abstract
The article focuses on the 2008 sting operation by US authorities that led to the arrest of Viktor Bout, a notorious Russian arms dealer known as the "Merchant of Death." Bout was captured in Bangkok after meeting with informants posing as representatives of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC), where he expressed intentions to target American forces. Following his arrest, Bout faced a lengthy extradition process and was ultimately convicted in the US on charges of conspiracy to kill Americans and supplying resources to a designated terrorist organization, resulting in a 25-year prison sentence. The article highlights the controversial nature of his trial, including potential biases due to financial incentives for the DEA agents involved. [Extracted from the article]
