Abstract
The article examines the presence and significance of neo-gnostic symbolic language and metaphors within the American dissident right, a political-cultural movement broadly opposed to mainstream political, corporate, and media establishments. It identifies two primary levels of "gnosis" or awakening in this context: the first involves political-cultural awareness of societal dysfunction described as pathocracy, often symbolized by the "red pill" metaphor from the film *The Matrix*; the second encompasses a spiritual awakening involving concepts like lightworking, metaphysics, and Christian nationalism. The dissident right's use of neo-gnostic themes—such as hostile cosmic forces (archons), a demiurge figure, and spiritual liberation—serves as an interpretive framework for understanding perceived systemic oppression and censorship, particularly on platforms like Gab, a free-speech social media network founded by evangelical Christian Andrew Torba. While neo-gnostic language is not uniformly dominant, it resonates strongly within this milieu as a means to articulate radical social alienation and opposition to prevailing ideological paradigms.
