Abstract
The article explores the influence of Jesuit priest and paleontologist Pierre Teilhard de Chardin on the United Nations (UN) and its spirituality. It discusses how Teilhard's Catholic cosmology, which reconciled science and religion, appealed to UN diplomats and officials. The article highlights how Teilhard's vision of planetary unity-in-diversity resonated with UN leaders, such as Secretary-General Kofi Annan and Assistant Secretary-General Robert Muller, who saw it as a guiding force for global governance. Teilhard's ideas were embraced for their ability to offer a spiritual foundation to complement the material forces driving globalization, emphasizing the importance of inner harmony and universal spirituality in achieving authentic planetary convergence.
