Abstract
The article focuses on the theme of integrity and hypocrisy in relation to teachings from the Matthean gospel, particularly addressing the discrepancy between words and actions exemplified by the scribes and Pharisees. It explores the concept of brokenness versus hypocrisy, drawing on the Japanese art of Kintsugi, which repairs broken pottery with gold to highlight rather than hide scars, as a metaphor for healing and wholeness. The discussion acknowledges societal injustices such as racism, misogyny, and homophobia, emphasizing the need for accountability and integrity rooted in compassion and respect for human dignity. Ultimately, the article encourages embodying truth through aligned actions, words, and thoughts as a path toward personal and communal wholeness.
