Abstract
The article focuses on a study examining the relationship between psychosocial factors and well-being, specifically in the context of mental disorders, cancers, and cardiovascular diseases. Conducted in Japan, the research utilized data from the Japan Public Health Center-based Prospective Study (JPHC-NEXT) and involved 46,480 participants to analyze how social support, trust, and networks impact individuals' sense of purpose in life (ikigai) over five years. Findings indicated that low social trust and lack of social connections were significantly associated with diminished well-being and ikigai, suggesting that psychosocial factors may influence health outcomes and overall life satisfaction. The study was supported by various Japanese health organizations, including the Japan Health Research Promotion Bureau and the National Cancer Center. [Extracted from the article]
