Abstract

This article examines how Ruskin Bond’s short stories, interpreted through the ecological frameworks of bioregionalism and Samkhya philosophy, can sensitize business school learners to reestablish a harmonious relationship between humans (purusha) and nature (prakriti) and thereby support the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Bioregionalism emphasizes living in accordance with the unique ecological characteristics of a geographic region, promoting sustainability and local self-sufficiency, while Samkhya philosophy highlights the interconnectedness and duality of consciousness and matter. Bond’s nature-centric narratives illustrate themes such as responsible consumption, environmental stewardship, and the ethical treatment of animals, aligning with several SDGs including clean water, climate action, and life on land. The study suggests incorporating such literature into management education can foster ecological awareness, ethical leadership, and a sense of personal and communal responsibility toward sustainable development.
