Abstract

This document provides summaries of four different research articles related to fisheries and aquaculture. The first article challenges the belief that Burbot fish are sedentary, showing that they move and travel long distances throughout the year. The second article explores a technique for incubating Walleye fish eggs in Petri dishes, allowing for small-scale experimentation without damaging large numbers of eggs and fish. The third article examines the recreational spearfishing fishery in Puerto Rico, highlighting the need for modifications in fisheries surveys to accurately capture data and suggesting the implementation of a recreational fishing license. The fourth article investigates how shellfish farms in Puget Sound serve as foraging habitat for various species of fish and crabs, finding that these farms can provide equivalent foraging opportunities as uncultivated areas.
