Abstract
The article examines the United States Department of Agriculture's proposed rescission of the 2001 Roadless Rule and its implications for national forest management. It explains that the Rule restricts road construction, timber harvest, and other development in Inventoried Roadless Areas, and that even if rescinded, the 2012 National Forest Management Act planning framework imposes ecological, sustainability, and project-specific requirements.
