Abstract

The article discusses genetically modified organisms (GMO), particularly their potential benefits and disadvantages. Also cited are the importance of studying GMOs to ensure their safety to humans, the history of gene-editing technology that started in the 1950s when scientists Marc Van Montagu and Jozef Schell discovered agrobacterium, and the Flavr Savr tomato as the first-launched GM food.
