Abstract
The article discusses the visibility of the Northern Lights, or aurora borealis, across seventeen states in the U.S. due to a geomagnetic storm occurring mid-week. The phenomenon will be observable in cities such as Seattle, Des Moines, Chicago, and Boston, particularly on the nights of July 12 and 13, when the KP-index is expected to reach Kp-5, indicating significant auroral activity. The Northern Lights are caused by collisions between charged particles from the sun and Earth's atmospheric gases, resulting in colorful displays primarily in green hues. For optimal viewing, it is recommended to observe between 10 p.m. and 2 a.m. local time, away from city lights and with a clear view to the north. [Extracted from the article]
