Abstract

The article focuses on Cotton Incorporated’s efforts to promote circularity in the textile industry as a key factor influencing cotton demand alongside cost, design, and promotion. Circularity involves reusing and recycling cotton fibers in multiple product lifecycles before returning them to the earth, supporting sustainability and regulatory compliance. Initiatives highlighted include converting cotton textile waste into glucose for biobased chemicals and the Blue Jeans Go Green™ denim recycling program, which repurposes discarded denim into products like insulation and packaging. Funded by America’s cotton producers and importers through The Cotton Board, these programs aim to reduce waste, enhance sustainability, and maintain cotton’s market position.
