Abstract
The article focuses on the microscopic study of snow crystals (snowflakes), emphasizing their diverse and complex three-dimensional structures. Using specialized light microscopy techniques combined with low-temperature devices to prevent melting, researchers produced stereoscopic images that reveal detailed spatial arrangements of various snowflake forms, including hexagonal prisms and stellar dendrites. The study highlights how atmospheric conditions like temperature and humidity influence snowflake morphology and notes the practical importance of such research for understanding snow layer consistency and avalanche risks. Due to the fragility of snowflakes and the need for extreme cooling, this specialized microscopy is limited to a few advanced laboratories.
