Abstract
The article focuses on the seasonal dynamics of burn injury profiles based on a retrospective analysis of 4,014 patients admitted to the Burn Care Centre at Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences, Islamabad, from 2016 to 2022. It found a higher incidence of burn admissions during winter months (55.5%) compared to summer (44.5%), with flame burns being the most common cause, followed by scald and electric burns; notably, electric burns were more frequent in men during summer. Hospital stays were longer for summer admissions, and mortality rates varied by burn type and season. The study highlights the importance of understanding seasonal variations to inform targeted prevention strategies, resource allocation, and public health interventions in Pakistan’s burn care context.
