Abstract

The article sees the decline in the number of disposable diapers sold at retail in the U.S. as a warning sign for consumer businesses the depend on birth-rate gains. It takes a look at the declining fertility rate in the U.S. and the shift toward later childbearing that could have implications for consumer businesses and other product categories like infant formula, children's and infant clothing. It discusses the high cost of commodities, growing problem of affordability and inflation growth.
