Abstract
The article focuses on the development and features of a new interactive mobile application designed to teach Mohr's circle and its applications in plane stress, plane strain, and moment of inertia for engineering students. Developed for the Android system using Java and Android Studio, the app offers three modules that allow users to manipulate differential elements and cross-sections through touch gestures, dynamically visualizing stress, strain, and inertia transformations in real time. The application addresses limitations of traditional textbooks and existing software by providing enhanced interactivity, enabling students to better understand principal directions, principal stresses/strains, and moments of inertia through direct manipulation and visualization. Validated against established literature examples and used in solid mechanics courses at the Federal University of Espírito Santo, the app aims to improve learning outcomes by making fundamental solid mechanics concepts more accessible and engaging.
