Abstract

The article focuses on Apple's announcement that its official Calculator app will finally be available on the iPad with the release of iPadOS 18 this fall, ending a 14-year absence since the iPad's launch in 2010. The new app will support basic and scientific calculations, unit conversions, and a feature called Math Notes, which allows users to write math problems by hand using the Apple Pencil for automatic solving. This addition follows Apple's recent introduction of other official apps to the iPad, such as the Weather app in 2022, and was met with positive reactions at Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference.
