Abstract

This article, published in the International Journal of Dermatology, discusses a case of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) in the context of autoimmune/autoinflammatory syndrome induced by adjuvants (ASIA) syndrome due to silicone breast implants (SBI). The case involves a 39-year-old woman who initially presented with skin lesions on her cheek and upper limbs. After a skin biopsy and blood test, she was diagnosed with subacute cutaneous lupus erythematosus and treated with hydroxychloroquine. However, two years later, she developed additional symptoms and was diagnosed with SLE. Over the next 10 years, her skin lesions worsened, and a chest x-ray revealed calcification of the SBI. The patient underwent removal of the implants, and her symptoms resolved. The article highlights the association between SBI and ASIA syndrome, emphasizing the importance of awareness among dermatologists. [Extracted from the article]
