Abstract

Researchers at the University of St Andrews conducted a study on problem-solving abilities in lizards, a topic that has been less explored compared to mammals and birds. Using a citizen science approach, they tested 18 pet lizards of five different species in their home environments via video calls with their owners. The study found that some lizards, such as the starred agama, showed success in problem-solving tasks, indicating the need for further research into their cognitive capabilities. The research highlights the potential of citizen science in studying reptile cognition and discusses the advantages and limitations of this approach for future studies. [Extracted from the article]
