Abstract
The article focuses on a National Science Foundation-sponsored Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) program studying the impacts of climate change and environmental stressors on bee populations in Lesvos, Greece. The program involved collaboration between seven U.S. students and four senior researchers, alongside Greek ecologists from the University of the Aegean, to investigate bee diversity, conservation, and threats in a region notable for its rich pollinator species. This international partnership facilitated comparative research across different environments and emphasized the importance of global scientific cooperation in addressing biodiversity loss and climate challenges. The experience also highlighted the value of cross-cultural exchange in advancing entomological research and fostering a unified response to environmental issues.
