Abstract
The article explores the capabilities of the Dwarf II smartscope, a compact and user-friendly device that enables users to capture images of the night sky using their mobile devices. The smartscope features a telephoto lens and a wide-angle lens, producing satisfactory images under bright skies. However, it does have a small and noisy sensor, as well as some software bugs. While the smartscope is suitable for imaging deep-sky objects, it may struggle to capture detailed images of planets. Despite these limitations, the Dwarf II offers a more affordable option compared to other smartscopes available. The article also highlights the ease of calibration and the ability to focus the optics during the day using the Auto Focus button. Additionally, the smartscope can be controlled through an app, allowing users to adjust exposure time, sensor gain, and other settings.
