Abstract
The article focuses on the outcomes of peri-anal and perineal injury management in children and adolescents treated at Ain Shams University Hospitals. It reports on a retrospective study of 11 pediatric patients with perineal trauma, highlighting that isolated genital injuries can often be repaired primarily without fecal diversion, whereas injuries involving the ano-rectum typically require fecal diversion combined with either primary repair or secondary healing depending on contamination and injury severity. The study emphasizes the importance of thorough examination, including diagnostic endoscopy under anesthesia, as a gold standard for assessing injury extent. The article also notes that perineal body reconstruction follows principles used in anorectal malformation surgeries.
