Abstract

This article aims to study the isokinetic knee flexor and extensor peak torque during concentric and eccentric contraction at different angular velocities and further understand the various muscle group characteristics that may lead to injury in athletes. The isokinetic concentric and eccentric strength measurements of twenty junior India volleyball players with an average age of 18.05 (± 0.76) years were used in this study. Humac Norm Isokinetic Dynamometer measures isokinetic concentric and eccentric peak torque (Nm) of knee extension, knee flexion, and knee flexion to extension ratio for both legs at angular velocity 60°/s, 90°/s, and 120°/s. The sample comparison for eccentric and concentric data is performed, and significant (p < 0.01) differences between the left and right legs at different angular velocities are observed.
