Abstract

The Polaris Dawn mission is set to break records by reaching an altitude of 870 miles, farther than any other nonlunar mission. The crew will also be the first commercial astronauts to perform a spacewalk and test communications with the SpaceX Starlink system. The mission will conduct scientific experiments, including studying space motion sickness and testing the SpaceX Dragon spacecraft in the Van Allen radiation belts. The mission is funded by Jared Isaacman, the founder of Shift4, and aims to raise money for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. The Polaris series of missions could also potentially service the Hubble Space Telescope and launch SpaceX's Starship rocket. [Extracted from the article]
