Abstract

The article focuses on recent security developments involving Kenya and Haiti, as well as Kenya's military cooperation with Turkey. Kenya plans to deploy an additional 600 police officers to a UN-backed mission addressing gang violence in Haiti, where over 3,600 people have died in 2024 due to escalating criminal activity. In Kenya, the Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) has called for arming teachers in Lamu County amid militant attacks disrupting education. Additionally, Kenya is expanding arms deals with Turkey, including potential acquisition of the Bayraktar TB2 unmanned aerial system, while also repatriating four Turkish nationals linked to the Gulen Movement at Ankara's request.
