Abstract

The article discusses the gradual integration of the Xbox controller as a primary input method for PC gaming over the past two decades. Initially, the use of controllers for PC games was uncommon, with most titles designed for mouse and keyboard input. However, the release of the Xbox 360 in 2005, which featured a USB-A connection and native support in Windows Vista, marked a significant shift. The well-designed Xbox controller, along with the rise of games that benefited from its use, contributed to its acceptance among PC gamers. In contrast, Sony's PlayStation controllers have struggled to gain similar traction on PC due to compatibility issues and lack of support. [Extracted from the article]
