Abstract

This article focuses on the intersection of media ecology—the study of information environments—and urban communication, which examines communication within urban settings and the influence of urban environments on communication. It highlights how cities function as complex media systems where technology and social interaction shape urban experiences and communication patterns. Drawing on foundational thinkers such as Lewis Mumford, Neil Postman, and Marshall McLuhan, the article explores how media ecology contributes to understanding urban development, social change, and the challenges of rapidly growing cities in the twenty-first century. The forum presented invites further exploration of how media ecology and urban communication can mutually inform each other to address contemporary urban issues.
