Abstract
The article examines the emergence of a distinct form of Black conservatism characterized by a paranoid reactionary style, particularly as expressed by Black conservative influencers on YouTube. Through qualitative content analysis of 100 videos from ten influencers, the study identifies three main claims: a perceived status loss framed not as a racial issue but as a moral and patriotic one; the belief in a coordinated attack on traditional values by liberal forces; and the necessity of self-defense against perceived threats to family and culture. The findings challenge existing assumptions in the literature that equate far-right ideologies solely with white nationalism, highlighting the role of Black conservatives in promoting similar narratives. This research suggests that the evolving political landscape in the U.S. may increasingly incorporate Black voices within reactionary politics, necessitating a reevaluation of concepts related to nationalism and racism.
