Abstract
The Military Families Outdoors Program, a collaboration between the Interior Department's National Park Service and the Department of Defense's Defense Health Agency, is seeking applications to promote the health and wellness of active-duty military service members and their families through positive engagement experiences with national parks, public lands, and waterways. The program aims to provide nature-based health promotion programs that focus on education, recreation, outdoor skills-building, and outdoor conservation projects. Eligible applicants include colleges and universities, nonprofit organizations, and state, local, and Native American tribal governments. The program offers various stages of programming, from introducing participants to nature through drop-in events and day trips to empowering them to independently incorporate outdoor experiences into their lifestyle. The deadline for applications is July 15, 2024, and the estimated funding range for each award is $100,000 to $5 million. [Extracted from the article]
