Abstract

The article focuses on research conducted at Ohio State University regarding the impact of LGBTQ+ policies on mental health outcomes among sexual minority women and gender diverse individuals assigned female at birth (SMWGD) in the United States. The study utilized state-level data and a sample of 429 participants to explore the associations between LGBTQ+ nondiscrimination policies, sexual orientation discrimination, anxiety, and depression. Findings indicated that living in states with more LGBTQ+ nondiscrimination policies was linked to reduced sexual orientation discrimination and lower anxiety levels over time.
